There’s still a bit of tension between Thorin and Bilbo, and so Smaug the dragon which you’ll get to see as well, uses that to mess with Bilbo’s head. At the center is Bilbo and the ring that helped him escape danger a few times in this movie. The danger and the adventure continue as our small sized friends prove their bravery and loyalty to one another. Whereas “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” made us revisit some of the places that we’ve come to know and love from “Lord of The Rings” movies, places like Hobbiton and Rivendell, “The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug” made us venture into places like Beorn’s home, Laketown, Mirkwood, and more. Everything about this is set in a way that prepares you for the next and final “Hobbit” installment, “The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies” Now, keep in mind that they weren’t kiddin’ when they said extended edition because it comes in Blu-Ray 3D, Blu-Ray, and a few extra discs containing literally nine hours of bonus features just for you the fans. I wish I had the same version for the previous installment, “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” but since this is the only one I currently own, this write-up will be just about this alone. First off, I’d like to thank WB Home Entertainment for sending me this copy of THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG EXTENDED EDITION Blu-Ray (whew, that’s a mouthful!).
